Space Park Leicester’s chief executive has been invited to join the UK government’s delegation attending Commercial Space Week in the US.
William Wells will showcase the University of Leicester’s £100m space research, innovation and teaching hub at the event this week which will attract more than 5,000 attendees from over 30 countries.
The high-profile week will bring together three major space events on one global stage – Space Mobility Conference & Expo, SpaceCom The Global Commercial Space Conference and Exposition in collaboration with Space Congress and the GSA Spaceport Summit.
Mr Wells said: “Commercial Space Week is widely recognised as being the place where the business of space gets done.
“It brings together commercial innovators, government leaders and spaceport decision makers in a uniquely collaborative environment to accelerate the growth of commercial space.
“To be invited to be part of the Department for Business and Trade’s delegation is a huge honour and is recognition of Space Park Leicester’s role at the forefront of the UK space sector.
“We’re delighted to be appearing at this important event which will give us an excellent opportunity to raise even more awareness about Space Park Leicester’s research, collaborations and the education we offer with a hugely respected international audience.
“It’s even more exciting to be attending the event at this point in time as the visit also aligns with a major milestone in the latest chapter of space exploration – the upcoming launch of the Artemis 2 mission that aims to take four astronauts on a lunar mission.”
Space Park Leicester hosts a community of businesses, scientists, engineers, academics and researchers and is on a mission to push the boundaries of space exploration, satellite technology and Earth observation to benefit society and the economy.
