Slovenia Concludes the Presidency of the Alpine Convention

Yesterday, we launched the XIth Alpine Conference here at Brdo. We started by highlighting our common achievements in making the sustainable development of the Alpine world possible and in addressing issues that we have been confronted with in the past 20 years, since the signing of the Alpine Convention. The discussion, which focused on exchanging views, stressed the importance of Alpine potentials both for the region and for the wider space with which it is inextricably linked. We expressed our unimpaired commitment to further enhancing our cooperation within the Alpine Convention in the future. In this context, we have defined our strategic guidelines and priorities for the next six-year period. We are profoundly aware of the rapidly changing environment in which we act, and of the ever-changing challenges linked to climate change, demographic fluctuations and economic development.
