Siemens Restructures Rail Business

The newly established fourth Siemens Sector – Infrastructure & Cities – has now commenced operations. Since October 1, 2011, Siemens’ operational business has been divided into the following Sectors: Infrastructure & Cities, Industry, Energy and Healthcare. Siemens’ mobility business has also been restructured within this new organization. The reason is the company’s decision to focus on solutions for cities. The new structure means that Siemens will be directing its business even more closely at its target markets and will be opening up additional opportunities in the “cities” market. To make sure we are in a position to exploit this additional growth potential, the Mobility Division’s existing Business Units have been adapted to fit in with this growth strategy and have been reorganized in 3 Divisions within the Infrastructure & Cities Sector: Rail Systems Division Focus: Siemens’ entire rolling stock business – from railways to metros, from locomotives to trams and light rail vehicles, plus the full range of associated services.
