Satellite Imagery at the Resolution Better than 2 m/pixel Permitted

The 9th Court of Appeal satisfied on 4th August the appeal of ScanEx RDC company, which is operating with Earth remote sensing data, ruling illegal the restrictions, imposed by Roscosmos in its license. In 2008 Roscosmos granted a license to ScanEx RDC for Earth remote sensing data reception, processing and distribution. The document reads that the operator may work with remote sensing data with the resolution not less than 2 meters per pixel. For comparison: Yandex company now allows anyone to use satellite images at the resolution of 0.6 m per pixel. These images Yandex receives in its turn from ScanEx as well. Yandex has no concerns about that, since there are no documents, restricting to publish such data. Read More
