OpenGeo, a company committed to bringing the best enterprise open source geospatial software and support to organizations and governments worldwide, will be an active participant in this year’s Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial Central and Eastern Europe (FOSS4G-CEE) & Geoinformatics 2012 Conference. The much anticipated conference will take place in Prague from May 21 to 23 at the Czech Technical University in Prague’s Faculty of Civil Engineering.
The three days will feature talks and workshops delivered by speakers from Central Europe and beyond. OpenGeo developer Andreas Hocevar will be delivering two in-depth workshops: the three hour-long introductory course “Using A Free An Open Source Geospatial Stack”, and the more advanced course, “Building Web Applications with the OpenGeo Suite”. Alyssa Wright, OpenGeo’s Vice President, Director of Solutions, said of the event, “We are excited to connect with this community of developers and decision-makers to support the utility and global reach of open source geospatial software.”
OpenGeo has been an active member of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) community since its inception and has taken a leadership role in OSGeo’s global FOSS4G conferences. This year, OpenGeo was instrumental in the establishment of FOSS4G North America . The inaugural North America conference took place in April of this year, and there are plans underway for a 2013 conference to be held in St. Paul, Minnesota. This year’s international FOSS4G conference is scheduled for September 10 – 15, 2012 in Beijing, China.
