NOAA Awards Tetra Tech $49 Million Coastal Geospatial Contract

  • Rating12345

PASADENA, Calif. — Tetra Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTEK) announced today that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has awarded the Company a $49 million, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to support the Office for Coastal Management’s (OCM) Digital Coast program. Tetra Tech is one of five contractors who will share in the contract ceiling over a five-year period.

Tetra Tech will provide OCM with highly technical geospatial services to support NOAA’s mandate to manage the nation’s coastal resources, including the Great Lakes. The geographic scope of the contract extends from the U.S. territories in American Samoa to the U.S. Virgin Islands, and to all coastal states.

Tetra Tech will use innovative collection methods to acquire, analyze, and process geospatial data to address critical coastal issues such as sea level rise, coastal resiliency, sustainable land use, and marine planning. Data collection methods may include the use of airborne and bathymetric lidar, satellite imagery, and video and acoustic technologies to produce high-resolution maps and data products for use by coastal managers.

In addition to data collection, Tetra Tech will provide technical GIS support services such as software application development, data analytics, and data integration and modeling. This would enable NOAA to engage in the development of green infrastructure and the creation of sustainable ecological, social, and economic solutions to reduce the impact of rising seas and climate change on coastal shorelines.

“We are pleased to combine our leadership position in water with full-service geospatial data acquisition and analytics capabilities to support the Digital Coast Program,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s Chairman and CEO. “Through the application of advanced software and GIS technologies we will support OCM’s mission to effectively manage and protect our coastal resources.”
