NAVTEQ Transport Expands in Argentina, Brazil and Chile

  • Rating12345

NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, announced today that its flagship fleet, logistics and transportation product, NAVTEQ Transport, is now available to support the trucking industry in Argentina, Brazil and Chile. With coverage connecting Brazil and Chile through Buenos Aires and Argentina and Chile via Valparaiso to Santiago, NAVTEQ customers can also create applications that support the multi-national, long-haul logistics industry.

NAVTEQ Transport is a set of navigable attributes included in the NAVTEQ® map specifically designed for trucks and large vehicles. These attributes enable NAVTEQ customers to develop a wide range of solutions to support the transportation and logistics industry for both truck management and navigation. Content includes physical and legal restrictions such as height and weight warnings, HAZMAT information and Points of Interest (POIs) unique to the trucking industry such as weigh stations.

With this new content, suppliers to the trucking industry can now provide high-quality navigation systems that support accurate turn-by-turn guidance. Trucking companies adopting this technology have the opportunity to increase their profitability and maintain a competitive advantage by decreasing operating costs and predicting more accurate delivery window promises.

“By utilizing attributes in NAVTEQ Transport, application developers can provide routes that take into account restrictions that impede truck movement and delay their destination arrival time,” commented Fernando Villasol, director South America map and content products for NAVTEQ.  “Creating routes that avoid these obstacles can lead to savings of both time and money, as well as lead to greater driver satisfaction.”

Because NAVTEQ Transport is part of the highly accurate NAVTEQ® map, customers are able to realize cost-efficiencies and faster speed-to-market when developing applications. These benefits are recognized by utilizing NAVTEQ’s single global data specification strategy. With this foundation, applications can be created that cross country boundaries, enabling multi-national applications. To further support the development of quality truck industry applications, NAVTEQ provides technical customer support to assist customers with integrating its map and truck attributes into their applications.
