October 30, 2015,Reston, VA — MAPPS, the only national association of private sector firms in the surveying, mapping and geospatial field in the United States, today announced MAPPS member Pam Nobles, PSM, PLS, of Diversified Design & Drafting Services, Inc. of Tallahassee, FL will take a seat on the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) Task Force on the current state and future of the surveying profession.
The NCEES Task Force was created to evaluate the current state of the surveying profession, and explore methods to attract more people to the profession. The task force is comprised of surveyors from across the United States, representing several stakeholder organizations. “MAPPS is honored to be part of this important NCEES effort,” said Susan Marlow (Stantec, Nashville, TN), MAPPS President. “Pam is passionate about this topic and will be an articulate and effective member of the task force. She will bring the perspective of a business owner and the broad spectrum of geospatial disciplines in which MAPPS member firms are involved.” Nobles previously served on the Florida Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers, has been chair of the MAPPS Nominations Committee, is a member of the MAPPS Legislative Affairs Committee, and has made presentations on the future of surveying at two recent MAPPS conferences.
