GfK’s Map of the Month for May illustrates per capita sales area provision in Europe in 2018.
According to GfK’s latest retail study, Europe’s per capita sales area increased by a lower-than-typical amount in 2018 due to the counterbalancing impact of population growth. European consumers thus had an average per capita sales area of 1.13m² at their disposal in 2018 (excludes consideration of the countries of Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Malta and Slovenia). The top spots go to Belgium (1.66m²), Austria (1.62m²) and the Netherlands (1.60m²).
