Leica Geosystems Takes Top Honour in the Wichmann Innovations Award at INTERGEO 2017

  • Rating12345

Heerbrugg, Switzerland – Leica Geosystems, industry leader in measurement technology, was recently awarded the first-place prize in the Wichmann Innovations Award programme held during the INTERGEO conference and trade fair in Berlin, Germany.

The Wichmann Innovations Award is presented by publisher Wichmann Verlag, well known for its expertise in professional magazines and specialist books for geodesy and geomatics. Companies from around the globe submitted products and applications to participate in the competition. From hundreds of submissions, a jury of industry leaders selected a short list of products and applications to receive votes from the general public. The main criteria for the award were innovation, user-friendliness and practicality.

The top honour for hardware went to the Leica BLK360 imaging laser scanner. The BLK360 captures the world with full-colour panoramic images overlaid on a high accuracy point cloud. The one-button-operation BLK360 is not only the smallest and lightest of its kind, but also offers a simple user experience. Anyone who can operate an iPad can now capture the world around them with high resolution 3D panoramic images.

“To be recognised with the prestigious Wichmann Innovations Award underscores the dedication and commitment the team put into developing the imaging laser scanner for all,” said Hexagon Geosystems CTO Burkhard Boeckem. “We are honoured that not only a panel of experts in our industry see the innovation in the BLK360 but also the general public at large, and this drives us to keep innovating.”
