We at Depiction are very pleased to inform you that the long-awaited version 1.3 of Depiction is now available for download. This is the most significant upgrade since Depiction’s original release, offering major improvements in both performance and features. You can also register for next week’s Depiction 101, a special first session in a new series covering Depiction 1.3.
Here are a few other important things to note about the upgrade:
- Remember to save any key depictions using version 1.2.2d to ensure a smooth upgrade process.
- To download the upgrade, click here. The upgrade will also be available through the Depiction Updater shortly.
- If you have purchased an Add-on for Depiction, you will need to download and install updated versions as well. If your add-ons do not appear at the previous link, visit www.depiction.com/user and click “Files”.
- The third-party developer behind the APRS Live add-on is hard at work on a new version that will be compatible with Depiction 1.3, and we are told that it will be available shortly.
- Depiction 1.3 installs alongside Depiction 1.2, so if you still need to access that version, either to save files as the latest version or to run APRS Live until the new version is available, it will still be accessible: click here for details on how to get to it. If you would like uninstall version 1.2, that will not affect the new version at all.
- Depiction will automatically update the default desktop and start menu shortcuts from Depiction 1.2 to Depiction 1.3. If you have created any custom shortcuts to Depiction, those will not be updated (they’ll still open 1.2).
- The 1.3 version of Depiction Reader can also be installed alongside the full version of Depiction, and can be downloaded atwww.depiction.com/downloads.
- To transfer custom elements created with version 1.2 and earlier into Depiction 1.3, add any custom elements you want to transfer into a 1.2 depiction file, save it, then open that file in Depiction 1.3. In the Add Content menu, under “loaded element” right-click on those elements and select “move to library.”
