Intergraph has formally opened the newly-expanded Intergraph Global Marine Center in Busan, South Korea. This center of excellence has a dedicated team of marine experts to support customers, enabling them to implement SmartMarine® Enterprise easily for enhanced productivity in their marine and offshore projects.

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), one of Intergraph’s major marine customers, is one of the three largest shipbuilders in the world, and is ranked by many industry experts as the most efficient and productive shipyard globally. SHI specializes in complex high-technology, high-value specialty ships, and it is the market leader in the drill ship, ultra-large container ship, LNG carrier and FPSO markets. The Korean shipbuilder is using Intergraph SmartMarine 3D in full production, which has contributed directly to SHI achieving its business objective of delivering a higher volume of the most complex and technically advanced vessels on the market today. The Intergraph Global Marine Center will work closely with SHI to continue enhancing SmartMarine 3D and the SmartMarine Enterprise suite, enabling customers to leverage the marine center’s expertise and achieve similar success for their marine and offshore projects.

“Since the implementation of SmartMarine 3D at SHI, we have been enjoying extraordinary improvements in design productivity and production quality, and continue to do so,” said Yeong Soo Bae, executive vice president of research and development at SHI. “With its data-centric architecture and intelligent, rule-based technology, SmartMarine 3D is truly a technological step-change for the industry. We are expanding the use of SmartMarine 3D into our offshore division as well, and we look forward to working with the Intergraph Global Marine Center to continually enhance the solution for maximum benefits across the entire offshore and marine life cycle.”

Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, “We are pleased to announce the expansion of the Intergraph Global Marine Center in Busan, the heart of the shipbuilding industry in South Korea. Backed by SHI, considered by many as the world’s most productive shipyard, this center of excellence will ensure that our customers in Korea and throughout the world can leverage the experience and expertise of industry leaders, easing the implementation of SmartMarine Enterprise for enhanced safety, quality and productivity of their marine and offshore projects.”
