This year’s conference will once again feature distinguished national and international speakers. Cornelia Rogall-Grothe, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Steven W. Berglund, President and CEO of Trimble, and CheeHai Teo, President of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), will all hold keynote speeches. From 9 to 11 October 2012, INTERGEO in Hanover will address topics such as Open GeoData and energy issues, cloud computing, 3D and new technologies, urban development and property valuation. Another highlight will be the first ever national INSPIRE Conference, which will also deal with central European issues as part of the conference. The second Navigation Conference and the third CLGE conference of European surveyors will also take place alongside INTERGEO. At the European Students Meeting, the next generation of geodata specialists from throughout Europe will use INTERGEO as a platform to share information and ideas.
Prof. Karl-Friedrich Thöne, President of the German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management (DVW. e.V.), the host of INTERGEO, said participants can look forward to a conference programme “devoted to the key national and international topics of this year’s INTERGEO”. On the opening day, Cornelia Rogall-Grothe, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, is set to praise “INSPIRE as a driver of the national geodata infrastructure”. German Minister of the Interior Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich is the patron of the event. On the second conference day, Steven W. Berglund will talk about “Technology as Stimulus to an Expanding Universe for Geospatial Information”. CheeHai Teo will open the third conference day with “The Role of the Surveyor – an International View”.
INTERGEO will be held in conjunction with the 60th German Cartographers’ Day, Geodetic Week and the OpenData BarCamp.
