INTERGEO 2011: Opens On Tuesday

  • Rating12345

The host of the 17th INTERGEO, DVW President Prof. Karl-Friedrich Thöne, sums it up nicely: “Geo and modern-day government or modern-day society – highly networked geoinformation systems and structures are in growing demand for public administration and business applications.” The accumulated knowledge of the experts attending the leading international conference and trade fair, which will be inaugurated on Tuesday, 27 September, is therefore in high demand. For the first time, the Navigation Conference will also be held at INTERGEO from 27 to 29 September at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. The German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) and the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM) are jointly responsible for the high-calibre event on 27 and 28 September. The interplay between navigation, IT technology and geoinformation offers huge opportunities for new developments across sectoral boundaries.

In addition to the innovations on display over the three days and also publicized after INTERGEO, the trade fair and conference also serve as a platform for top-level international networking. To some extent, they are just the “tip” of the iceberg as, over the course of the year, INTERGEO actually generates around 5 million specialist contacts. Some 527 exhibitors from over 30 countries are expected to come to the world-famous city, including representatives of all major companies as well as national and international market and industry leaders. The patron DVW e. V. – German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management – expects around 17,500 visitors and 1,500 conference participants from around 80 countries on all continents. INTERGEO is thus able to cover all the trends along the value-added chain, from data acquisition to sophisticated applications, on a gross exhibition area of 28,000 square metres. The ever-evolving nature of INTERGEO in response to the growing communication needs of the various sectors it represents is reflected at this year’s three-day event.

DVW e.V. – the German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management – is the patron of INTERGEO, which is being held from 27 to 29 September 2011 in Nuremberg.
