Hexagon acquires Inertial Sense to advance GNSS+INS innovation

  • Rating12345

In a move that will further broaden Hexagon’s advanced positioning portfolio and reinforce its leadership in precise, resilient navigation technologies, the company has signed an agreement to acquire Inertial Sense. Inertial Sense is a specialist in tactical-grade global navigation and inertial navigation systems (GNSS+INS).

This acquisition represents a key milestone in Hexagon’s strategy to drive innovation and scalable growth within the rapidly evolving fields of autonomy and positioning technology. Inertial Sense’s expertise will enhance Hexagon’s assured positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) portfolio, expanding access to affordable, high-performance navigation solutions for customers in aerospace and defence, robotics, and the uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) sectors.

Inertial Sense has built a strong reputation as a trusted provider of high-performance navigation solutions for both defence and commercial applications, with more than 30,000 inertial systems deployed worldwide. The company’s patented designs and proprietary technology deliver tactical-grade GNSS+INS performance in space-constrained environments, offering centimetre-level accuracy at a highly competitive cost.

Headquartered in Utah, USA, Inertial Sense was founded in 2013 with a mission to make precision and autonomous movement accessible for nearly any type of device.
