The GSDI Association has been making Small Grants Program awards since 2003 – the organization’s longest running project. These grants are for $2,500. Although this is not a large amount of money, in emerging nations and developing spatial data infrastructures (SDI’s), it can go a long way toward SDI preparedness, for building some component of an SDI and/or to add to SDI sustainability. It may also help to engage other organizations in collaboration and additional co-funding.
In 2017, the GSDI Association plans to award up to 4 grants in cash from its own financial reserves. The GSDI Association greatly appreciates past support for the Small Grants program from GeoConnections in Canada, the FGDC in the U.S., and URISA’s GISCorps.
The Call for Proposals documentation, including the ‘Guide for Proposers’ and ‘Application Submission Guidelines – 2017 ’ (http://gsdiassociation.org/images/projects/smallgrants/2017/GSDI_Small_Grants_Proposal_Guidelines_2017.pdf) can be downloaded from the GSDI web site (http://gsdiassociation.org/index.php/projects/small-grants.html), as well as information about previous awards, to give applicants some background on the types of projects that have been awarded grants in the past.
All applications should be submitted in the format set out in the ‘Application Submission Guidelines’ to be assessed and considered for an award. Return applications as email attachments (PDF or .doc) to [email protected]. Please take into consideration the ‘Criteria for Assessment’ described in the Guidelines before preparing your application.
Applications must be returned no later than 1 June 2017 to be considered for the Small Grant Awards assessment.
