The data available through GIS include predictive analysis data and digital maps data. Predictive analysis data includes business data, which is used across organizations for carrying out business operations more effectively and efficiently. Digital map data includes location details and geography. The data segment is expected to grow at a faster rate than the software segment.

“At present, the GIS data market is dominated by large vendors. Google has a strong presence, offering a digital maps application to end-users. Similarly, several large vendors offer map information and other information via satellite,” says Navin.

Global GIS services market

The services segment is one of the fastest growing segments in the market, growing at a CAGR of more than 10% to reach USD 3.94 billion by 2020. GIS services offered by vendors in the market include consulting, implementation, training and education, e-services, and web hosting. Consulting and implementation accounted for the largest share of services offered by vendors in the market.
