Leading aerial survey and GIS solutions provider Getmapping used the INTERGEO Conference and Exhibition to launch a new joint venture – GeoXphere – developed in partnership with WaldoAir, the leading provider of low-cost aerial imaging solutions.
GeoXphere brings together the portable XCAM camera technology built by WaldoAir and the cloud-based GIS developed by Getmapping to provide clients with the ability to capture and serve geospatial data in an easy and cost effective way.
The XCAM system attaches to the outside of most aircraft without the need for modification, enabling survey operators to easily capture high resolution vertical, oblique, infrared or thermal imagery. Survey data can then be loaded, processed and delivered through a cloud based GIS portal.
Available to market and territory partners on a subscription basis, survey operators can use the XCAM to expand their capabilities without the large capital investment that comes with purchasing large format cameras and dedicated survey aircraft.
Dave Horner, MD of Getmapping says “GeoXphere can bridge the commercial viability gap between traditional operators of large format cameras and UAVs, and our cloud based GIS software makes that data accessible to everyone who needs to use it. Our stand at Intergeo in Hamburg was inundated with enquiries from survey specialists from around the world who see the value of this service for their clients across sectors such as powerline management, mining, agriculture and municipalities.”
