GeoNorth Expands Capabilities and Formerly Announces Its Imagery Coordination Center

  • Rating12345

Anchorage, Alaska, June 12, 2015 —  GeoNorth, LLC (www.geonorth.com), specializing in the development of integrated solutions for end-to-end geospatial decision-making, is formally announcing the operational readiness of its Imagery Coordination Center (ICC).

The ICC is the nerve center for all of GeoNorth’s imagery operations.  This fully-staffed operations unit conducts all of the satellite tasking duties, image processing, and customer fulfillment, and has done so since GeoNorth acquired its own Direct Receiving Station (DRS) in 2014.  The Center is now adding capabilities and services that bring more proactive monitoring and response components to its customer base.  As sole owner and operator of the Direct Receiving Station and its Imagery Coordination Center, GeoNorth has become a global alternative commercial provider of both Optical and Radar satellite imagery services for the DoD/Intelligence Community, commercial, and government marketplace.

Most recently, the ICC has added 24/7 response capabilities and a service offering that it is now taking to the marketplace; in Alaska and globally.  Customers can sign up as a subscriber of the ICC and receive alerts related to imagery acquisition of their assets.  Customers can also purchase and direct the proactive monitoring of their interests that enable more accurate, timely, and cost effective operational decision making regarding those assets that have strategic importance.  Each customer has an individual program unique to their interests with dedicated customer support and a 24/7 hotline.  The ICC has effectively responded to such scenarios as Alaskan wildfire needs on behalf of interagency clients, highway flood damage for departments of transportation, pipeline monitoring projects for various private and public customers, and coastline change baselines for some of the country’s coastal authorities.

“The Imagery Coordination Center signals that GeoNorth has achieved a level of operating capability that only a handful of players in this industry can match”, said Michael McCarthy, GeoNorth’s General Manager.  “We are very proud that this response capability sits right here in Alaska, serving both the local needs of the state, as well as the global requirements of our customers worldwide”.All ICC services apply to new tasking and collections, as well as requests for archived imagery.  With its multi-mission DRS, the ICC has tasking and downlink capabilities for all Airbus Defense and Space satellite constellations including SPOT (6&7), Pleiades (1A & 1B), and TerraSAR (TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X), offering optical or SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imagery products in medium, high, and very high resolution; SPOT 6&7 (6m-1.5m), Pleiades (2m-50cm), and TerraSAR (40m-25cm).
