First Autonomous Vehicle Test Centre in Singapore

  • Rating12345

Karlsruhe/Singapore: Singapore’s first autonomous vehicle (AV) test centre was opened by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) in late 2017. This new 2-hectare test facility will support the Centre of Excellence for Testing & Research of AVs – NTU (CETRAN), which was launched to spearhead the development of testing requirements for autonomous vehicles (AVs). PTV Group is one of the strategic technology partners.

Omid Ejtemai, Regional Director of PTV Asia Pacific, signed the strategic partnership during the opening ceremony and explained: “We are looking forward to working as technical partner in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University Singapore for the development and growth in the area of AVs, Mobility as a Service and Traffic Solutions.”

He added: “We consider Singapore and NTU as excellent partners for PTV, offering a complete ecosystem of research, development and implementation of new solutions. We are happy to support the analysis of different safety issues for future autonomous applications.”

For example, the simulation tool PTV Vissim will create realistic test cases. Furthermore, the software solutions of PTV will help to define, test and handle thousands of cases for different future mobility scenarios in a virtual environment.
