Exprodat Presents on Managing Climate Risks at 2013 Esri Petroleum GIS Conference

  • Rating12345

GIS technical expert, Paola Peroni will be making a fascinating presentation at the forthcoming 2013 Esri Petroleum GIS Conference explaining how ArcGIS can be used to evaluate and identify climate-related risks to oil and gas projects.

Exprodat’s Peroni, whose work was conducted in partnership with Mark Mackintosh of Claverton Associates, will describe how climate change symptoms such as sea level rises, coastal erosion, irregular rainfall patterns and permafrost thawing are all being recognised as key issues for the oil and gas industry.

Given the extended time many oil and gas assets are in use, these changes now present a risk to new and existing infrastructure.

Peroni and Mackintosh will show how ArcGIS can be a key management tool for evaluating new climate-related risks and identifying key adaptation strategies to increase the resiliency of all new developments.

The presentation, entitled ‘Climatically thinking: the role of GIS in increasing resilience of oil and gas projects to the effects of climate change’ is scheduled for 1:30pm on Wednesday, 8th May 2013 within the Health, Safety and Environment stream.

If you are unable to make the presentation but are attending the PUG, Exprodat staff will be available at stand #723 throughout the conference.
