Europe’s environment: the third assessment

  • Rating12345

Kiev report is the third one in a series of pan-European assessment reports on the state of the environment, called for successive pan-European Ministerial Conferences (1995, 1998, 2003). The Kiev report aims to support the UN-ECE Ministerial Conference “Environment for Europe” to be held in Kiev next May.

It has been the main report prepared by the ETC-TE during this period. A full chapter on soil degradation, with pan-European vision, has been produced. The process included data collection, with efforts devoted to support data collection in accession and NIS countries.

In addition, a section on Integrated Coastal Management (ICZM) has been prepared for the Chapter 13 “Progress in managing the environment and sustainable development”. ICZM is a clear emergent issue and it was the first time ICZM was assessed in a SoE Pan-European report.
