  • Rating12345

June 11, 2015 — ENVITIA has been awarded a contract by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services UK to deliver, in partnership, the first phase of the Defence Geospatial Services (DGS) programme to the UK Ministry of Defence.

DGS will provide a step change to the Situational Awareness capability in Defence allowing them to react to crises worldwide in a more effective and efficient manner. Under the contract, ENVITIA and HP will provide a system that will deliver foundation GEOINT across the Ministry of Defence enterprise, enabling Military personnel and MOD Civil Servants to search, discover and retrieve foundation GEOINT directly from their DII terminals.

“ENVITIA is delighted to be working in partnership with HP and the UK Ministry of Defence to deliver this important new capability” said Mark Richardson, ENVITIA Business Development Manager. “The contract award recognises our status as a world leading provider of geospatial solutions and software to the Defence sector. We are committed from the top down to realising the DGS vision”.

ENVITIA and HP will deploy the most advanced and flexible Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) to support Defence based entirely on Open Standards and Open Architecture. This SDI will underpin information management and the discovery of foundation GEOINT coupled with enhanced Task and Workflow Management.

“HP is proud to be delivering this enterprise capability, in partnership with ENVITIA, and the associated benefits that this capability will deliver across Defence both now and in the future” Simon Fovargue, Vice President HP Enterprise Defence & Security.
