Edmund Optics® Expands Scientific Imaging Portfolio Through New Partnership with Teledyne Photometrics

  • Rating12345

Purpose-built scientific cameras now available at Edmund Optics, enabling streamlined, one-stop sourcing of scientific imaging system components through the company’s marketplace.

March 17, 2026, Barrington, NJ, USA — Edmund Optics®, a leading global provider of optical and imaging technology solutions, has announced a new partnership with Teledyne Photometrics, bringing scientific-grade cameras to Edmund Optics’ extensive portfolio for the first time.

The partnership expands Edmund Optics’ offering beyond machine vision into dedicated scientific imaging, addressing the growing demand for quantitative, low-light data capture in life science and research applications. Unlike adapted machine vision units, Teledyne Photometrics cameras are purpose-built for quantitative scientific imaging, enabling researchers and OEM system developers to capture weak signals with confidence, even in demanding environments.

John McGuire, Brand Manager of Partner Products at Edmund Optics, commented:

“Teledyne Photometrics is widely recognized for its leadership in scientific imaging and advanced sCMOS technology, and we are proud to bring their cameras into the Edmund Optics portfolio. This partnership reflects strong technical and strategic alignment between our organizations. By adding Teledyne Photometrics’ scientific cameras to our Teledyne Vision Solutions lineup, we enable customers to build complete, high-performance scientific imaging systems through a single trusted supplier. Our shared presence in Tucson, Arizona further strengthens this collaboration, supporting closer engineering coordination and enhanced service for our customers.”

The models now available at Edmund Optics include:

  • Prime™ BSI Express USB 3.2 Cameras – A compact yet powerful sCMOS imaging solution delivering high-resolution, highly sensitive imaging at high speeds – even at low signal levels.
  • Iris™ USB 3.0 Cameras & Iris™ PCIe Cameras – The Iris family of sCMOS cameras provides high-resolution imaging at low magnification across fields of view up to 25 mm. With small 4.25 µm pixels, Iris enables detailed, high-throughput imaging of large samples without sacrificing image quality.
  • Moment™ USB 3.2 Cameras – An ultra-compact, 7-megapixel CMOS camera featuring a true global shutter that freezes moving objects in time. With data and power delivered through a single USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable, Moment simplifies integration while capturing images at up to 50 frames per second.
  • Retiga™ E USB Cameras – The Retiga E family brings long-exposure imaging into the CMOS era, with advanced thermal noise control enabling exposures from over an hour up to 10 hours, depending on model. With high pixel count sensors and exceptionally low dark current, Retiga E supports both high-speed imaging and ultra-weak signal detection.

With this partnership, customers can now build complete scientific imaging systems, sourcing both camera and complementary optics, imaging lenses, microscopy objectives, illumination, accessories, and more, directly from Edmund Optics’ 34,000+ product portfolio. With in-stock inventory, fast global shipping, and 24/7 live technical support, Edmund Optics provides a convenient and reliable one-stop shop for scientific imaging system sourcing.

John Deasy, OEM Business Development at Teledyne Photometrics, commented:

“We’re excited to partner with Edmund Optics to expand access to Teledyne Photometrics’ advanced imaging solutions. Edmund Optics is a trusted leader in imaging, optics, and photonics, and their extensive catalog of compatible components makes it easier than ever for customers to build complete imaging systems with confidence. Our cameras are top of the line – renowned for delivering exceptional sensitivity and low-noise performance for demanding applications like fluorescence microscopy and high-speed live-cell imaging. No other provider offers imaging solutions that match the precision and innovation of Teledyne Photometrics. This collaboration builds on the strong relationships Edmund Optics already has with other Teledyne divisions, and we’re proud to support it by providing product training and resources to their team – ensuring customers receive expert guidance and support from the very first interaction.”

For customers, the partnership makes it easier to source complete imaging systems from a single, trusted supplier. With scientific cameras now available alongside Edmund Optics’ established optical component portfolio, customers can design, prototype, and deploy imaging systems more efficiently and with greater confidence.

The Teledyne Photometrics scientific camera range is now available in stock from Edmund Optics.
