Ecometrica Recognised on New FT List for Innovators and Industry Leaders

  • Rating12345

Edinburgh/London/Montreal, 2 October 2018 – Downstream space and sustainability reporting company Ecometrica has been picked from a select group of businesses for the inaugural FT Future 100 list, highlighting Britain’s most innovative and disruptive organisations.

The Edinburgh-headquartered firm, already named on the FT 1000 and the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 for 2018, is shaking up the software as a service (SaaS) sustainability industry by using data from satellites, UAVs, drones, ground instruments and local business intelligence to provide interactive mapping applications and data services that are being used to predict and manage environmental risks and impacts globally.

With turnover up 109% to £5.5m in the last financial year and profits jumping almost 1,400% over 24 months, Ecometrica already features on the Deloitte Fast 500 and Inc 5000. After landing on the FT 1000 for the second year in a row, it now joins the exclusive new FT Future 100 UK. In this inaugural list, the FT — in partnership with data provider Statista and supported by law firm Mishcon de Reya — has sought to “find fast growing UK companies that are also making an impact on their industry, or wider society”.

Mike Paul, head of marketing at Ecometrica, said: “Having won many awards for our products and made numerous lists based on our rapid growth, we’re delighted that the FT has chosen to develop a list of companies that are truly innovative and disruptive. It’s no surprise to us that Ecometrica is featured on the inaugural FT Future 100: over the last few years, our technology has changed the way companies think about what’s possible when it comes to their annual sustainability reporting.

“Customers who have seen our mapping platform in action have soon found that they can do much more than just reporting, based on technology that updates almost in real-time as new data comes in from satellites, UAVs and other sources. They can use the Ecometrica Platform to manage their global assets in terms of environmental impact, operational risk, and business strategy and sustainability. We are creating a new industry using downstream space data, and its impact goes far beyond our company, helping organisations across varied sectors to prepare for a sustainable future.”

By turning the vast and growing streams of data being beamed down from space by satellites into useful data for governments and businesses, Ecometrica is playing a key part in the space industry. As well as its work with commercial clients, governments and NGOs, Ecometrica works closely with the UK Space Agency, and is spearheading Forests 2020, a project to protect 300 million hectares of tropical forests in six partner countries (Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia) on behalf of the agency’s International Partnership Programme (IPP).
