East View Partners with World-Renowned French Mapping Agency

MINNEAPOLIS – November 12, 2015 — East View Geospatial has secured an agreement with Institut national de l’information géographique et forestière (IGN), the national mapping authority of France, to be an official distributor for the organization.

With this agreement, East View adds to its glowing portfolio of geospatial data from one of the largest mapping agencies in the world. Along with information from France proper, products also cover current French overseas territories, such as Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique and others.

East View is now an official U.S. distributor for the vast IGN portfolio, which includes among additional products; digital topographic maps, orthoimages, vector format databases, cadastral parcels, 3D digital models, satellite imagery and online geoservices. Of note are the SCAN 25 and SCAN 100 products, which are available for all areas of France at a 1:25,000 and 1:100,000 scale respectively.

“This partnership enables non-French speakers to easily discover and acquire the extensive products of the IGN-covering France as well as all French Overseas Departments and Territories-while maintaining the familiar excellent service that East View customers have come to expect,” said Kent Lee, East View Geospatial’s founder and CEO. “The IGN is one of the most prestigious mapping agencies in the world, and we are very excited to work with them to distribute this quality resource.”

About IGN

The official mapping agency in the country, lnstitut Geographique National (IGN) is responsible for the topo­graphic and geodetic survey of France, and its overseas terri­tories. It was founded in 1940 as a successor to Service Geographique des Armees, and was designated a public agency in 1967. IGN compiles and maintains 1:25 000 scale topographic coverage of the country, publishes derived smaller scale maps, commissions and carries out aerial photography, and co-operates with other French agencies in the compilation of thematic mapping. Its overseas opera­tions, including mapping carried out under technical aid programmes, are the responsibility of a subsidiary company IGN France Internationale.
