East View Launches MapVault – Online Access to Authoritative Raster Maps

  • Rating12345

MINNEAPOLIS – November 15, 2016 – East View Geospatial (EVG) has launched MapVault™, a web-based subscription service providing access to a global collection of raster mapping.

The scope of the collection that EVG offers is a first for the field of mapping. Subscribers to MapVault gain immediate access to hundreds of maps from global scale series, ranging from aeronautical charts produced by the US Government to locally-produced topographic maps covering specific countries around the world, such as Colombia, Botswana, Syria and Russia.

EVG is in a unique position to produce such an offering given its place in the geospatial field supplying corporations, governments national libraries and universities with authoritative map products in print format or via FTP delivery for over two decades.  Now users will have convenient access to utilize the data and imagery for a modest access fee.

An annual subscription delivers raster data that can be entered into GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, QGIS and Global Mapper™ using a WMTS connection, or conveniently viewed with EVG’s web interface client.

EVG was formed in 1996 to catalog, procure and establish distribution agreements with national mapping agencies worldwide so Western professionals and scholars could gain access to this important content for their work. MapVault is a continuation of this objective, while also maintaining EVG’s position as a leader in the commercial GIS industry.

The procurements focus on topographic, geological, nautical, aeronautical and thematic mapping.  MapVault makes it easy for GIS professionals and students alike to find high quality, authoritatively produced, georeferenced raster images of thousands of maps.

East View has more than 100 non-mapping databases, and adding mapping content fulfills a long-standing desire held by our customers to offer map data. After a significant period of time getting the maps properly scanned, cropped, mosaicked, georeferenced, tiled and mounted, MapVault finally unlocks the world’s high quality and authoritatively produced map content. Additional library content will be added on a quarterly basis.

Access to this expanding library of maps is established via IP address or username and password. For more information about MapVault, or additional East View products, visit http://geospatial.com/ or contact your East View representative.
