The world’s first drone for daily use is now being used in rescue missions. Phillip Strauch and Thomas Hebestreit recently handed over the first MULTIROTOR G4 drone to Christoph Niemann, the deputy chairman of Germany’s largest DLRG base in Scharbeutz.
“Deployment situations where a person is missing in the water at an unclear location are always very challenging for us. These scenarios always tie up a large number of responders with search chains and many boats in use,” explains Christoph Niemann. “In order to now handle these situations better, the DLRG Scharbeutz is taking to the air to search for people in the water with the drone from MULTIROTOR service-drone.com. “Aerial photos are of interest when searching for people not only due to their high vantage point, but they also offer the ability to look into the water from above without reflections,” Niemann continues, whose DLRG base monitors beaches with up to 100,000 people. The drone is equipped with a real-time video transmission for this purpose.
“The specially trained pilots of the DLRG are ready for takeoff within five minutes and can immediately begin to search for people,” explains Phillip Strauch, Head of Sales at MULTIROTOR service-drone.com. “And even in strong winds, because our in-house developed flight control regulates the flight attitude 512 times per second. This is unique on the market. As long as helicopters can fly, our drones can fly too,” adds Strauch.
Currently six trained pilots from the DLRG operate the drones on search and rescue missions.
