Dewberry Selected to Provide Geospatial Services to NOAA Office for Coastal Management

  • Rating12345

Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has been selected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management (OCM) to provide geospatial services in support of coastal resource management programs nationwide.

The five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract will be used by OCM; other NOAA offices; and federal, state, and local agencies to procure data and geospatial products that will assist in addressing hazard mitigation, sea level rise, coastal development, habitat restoration, environmental monitoring, ocean planning, and other coastal management issues. Products and services delivered through the $49 million contract will help build the “Digital Coast,” a comprehensive information repository for the nation’s coastal management community. The Digital Coast is managed by OCM and its 34 coastal state participants.

Dewberry’s services will include data acquisition, including lidar and hyper-spectral imaging; thematic mapping; photogrammetry and orthophotography production; surveying; GIS services; cadastral mapping; and geospatial training. This is Dewberry’s third consecutive five-year contract for OCM. Recent task orders include updating 1,200 miles of shoreline data from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to Long Island, New York, following Superstorm Sandy’s landfall in September 2012. The award-winning effort produced seamless topobathymetric Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and imagery of the Eastern Atlantic Seaboard. Dewberry has also been responsible for collecting and delivering lidar data for the Pelekane Watershed on Hawaii’s Big Island.
