Dewberry Awarded USACE South Atlantic Coastal Study Architecture/Engineering Services Task Order

  • Rating12345

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wilmington District has awarded Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, an architecture/engineering services task order for the South Atlantic Coastal Study (SACS). Under this contract, the firm will serve as technical advisor to the South Atlantic Division (SAD) SACS Engineering team and the USACE’s Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) modelers in the development of storm surge modeling products for this comprehensive study.

SACS is a Congressionally mandated regional study aimed at conducting a comprehensive analysis of coastal risk and vulnerability information related to hurricane and storm damage and sea level rise impacts within the USACE SAD area of responsibility. The study will eventually lead to a long-term strategy to address increased storm damage from rising sea levels and identify opportunities to enhance resilience in the higher-risk areas of the study area. This effort covers the coastal areas of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Dewberry’s activities include the technical review of all ERDC developed storm surge modeling products, provision of supporting technical review reports, as well as semi-annual reports to the USACE SACS Executive Committee and Senior Advisory Group.

“As Congress and USACE continue to make storm-induced coastal risks and resilience top priorities, we are thrilled to support the USACE leadership, ERDC, and SAD team in this important comprehensive study,” says Dewberry Associate Vice President and Project Manager Tony Buitrago, PE, PMP.
