March 31, 2015 — Cheng Kung University won SuperGIS Application Youth Award 2015 by its cross-platform GIS solution, which successfully integrated desktop, server, mobile GIS and crowd sources. Having been held nationally for years, the SuperGIS Youth Award is to encourage the students from differ-ent fields to apply their acknowledge to GIS and show their creativity on combining SuperGIS soft-ware to make the best use of spatial information.
The participating students this year are from various domains, including geography social studies, education, logistic, history and civil engineering. The first award goes to the Department of Measure and Spatial Information of Cheng Kung University, while the second and third places were taken by Chien Hsin University of Science and Technology and Taichung University of Education.
The project of title winner, Application of GIS of Scooter in Emergency, integrates SuperGIS Desk-top, SuperSurv and SuperGIS Server to provide a platform for users in finding vehicle service cen-ter nearby instantly. Users are allowed to make real-time feedback for more interaction. By using the power of public to establish a database of mechanic store, the project successfully blends GIS into daily life utility.
During the award ceremony, not only the project and GIS applications were delivered, but also the judges provided the latest technology sharing, connecting industries and schools. The youth applied their majors in SuperGIS and had the chance to exchange ideas with the professionals.
