Call for Papers – GEOINT Conference at JMU August 2017

James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, will host a “Symposium on the Future of Using Geospatial Intelligence to Anticipate Conflict,” August 3-4, 2017 for an audience from academia, business, and government.

Symposium organizers are seeking speakers (could be individuals or as members of panels) from a number of disciplines, including (but not limited to): demographics, economics, environmental/climatology, geography, intelligence analysis, military/security, political science, and urbanization/infrastructure).

Those who have already committed to present include:

  • Phil Downen, Vice President, Government Programs, UrtheCast
    Topic: Geospatial architecture now, and in the future
  • Jorge Garcia, former Assistant Director, Directorate of Intelligence, FBI
    Topic: Anticipatory analysis
  • Ken Knight, former National Intelligence Officer for Warning, and Director Defense Warning Office
    Topic: The role of geospatial intelligence in warning
  • Kelly McCue, Senior Data Scientist, CACI International and author of Data Mining and Predictive Analysis: Intelligence Gathering and Crime Analysis
    Topic: Using geospatial intelligence and anticipatory black swans

Conference papers will go into an edited volume, working title Anticipating Conflict: The View from Space, in which Cambridge University Press has already expressed an interest.

Deadline for proposals: 15 November, 2016.

Sponsorship opportunities are available on a sliding scale from $2500 to $500, with higher contributions entitling sponsors to networking table in lobby, logo and/or handout in program, guaranteed slot as a presenter, guaranteed number of seats in audience, etc.
