Blue Marble to Showcase the GeoCalc Geodetic Registry and Petrel CTL Support at ECIM 2016

  • Rating12345

Blue Marble Geographics is pleased to announce that it will be conducting a technical presentation at the upcoming Expert Center for Information Management (ECIM) Conference and User Meeting in Haugesund, Norway. This annual event, scheduled for September 12th-14th brings together data managers from the oil and gas industry for three days of workshops, plenary sessions, and information sharing. On the final day of the conference, Blue Marble’s Vice President of Sales, Kris Berglund, will deliver a presentation highlighting the latest developments in the company’s GIS and geodetic products.

Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization, and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, energy, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as government agencies and academic institutions.

ECIM is a non-profit organization that was established to promote efficiency and best practices in the management of data in the energy exploration and production industry. Because of the inherent location-based nature of this data, Blue Marble’s spatial technology has long played a critical role in ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the oil and gas industry. For over two decades, the company’s Geographic Calculator and Global Mapper products have gained a loyal and dedicated worldwide following among energy companies both large and small.

The Blue Mable presentation, which is scheduled for 10:30 am on Wednesday September 14th, will showcase the powerful coordinate conversion and datum transformation capabilities of Geographic Calculator and its application in oilfield operations. Attendees will have an opportunity to see some of the latest features and functions in the application including the ability to read coordinate system definitions directly from a PetrelTM CTL database and the introduction of the new online GeoCalc Geodetic Registry for frequent geodetic datasource updates. The presentation will also showcase Global Mapper, Blue Marble’s renowned desktop GIS application that provides an extensive collection of spatial data visualization and analysis tools in a low-cost and easy-to-use application.

“Having attended and presented at the annual ECIM meeting for several years, I consider it one of the most important events on our calendar.” stated Kris Berglund, Vice President of Sales at Blue Marble. “It is gratifying to be able to share the latest developments in our software products with data managers who appreciate the importance of precise geodetic data processing.”
