Hallowell, Maine – Blue Marble Geographics (www.bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce the successful delivery of the first ever official Global Mapper Certification training class in Australia. Coinciding with the APPEA conference in Perth, the class drew over two dozen attendees from throughout the country for two days of intensive, hands-on instruction.

For over two decades, Blue Marble’s affordable, user-friendly GIS software has been meeting the needs of hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers throughout the world. Users come from all industries including software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as government departments and academic institutions.

Over the years, Blue Marble, in conjunction with its network of partners, has conducted training classes on both Global Mapper and Geographic Calculator throughout North and South America; Africa; Asia; and Europe. Now, with the successful delivery of the Global Mapper class in Perth, Australia has been added to this list.

Class attendees were exposed to the full extent of Global Mapper’s capabilities through a series of hands-on workflows and real-world simulations. The curriculum covered a wide range of topics including vector data creation and editing; raster processing; attribute management and thematic mapping; map production; and 3D and terrain analysis. Attendees were also introduced to the functionality of the LiDAR Module, an add-on component of Global Mapper that provides a powerful set of tools for point cloud management. After completing the class, each attendee was officially recognized as a Certified Global Mapper User.

Reaction from the class participants was overwhelmingly positive. Among the comments from attendees were:

  • “The class exposed a lot of the hidden power of Global Mapper to me. I knew it existed, but didn’t know how to go about it.”
  • “Clear, concise, engaging. Learned the various disciplines that Global Mapper is used in.”
  • “Excellent instructor, best I’ve had for many years across many software platforms.”

“Australia has traditionally been a strong market for our software and over the years we have had countless inquiries from users in that part of the world about the availability of training classes,” stated Senior Applications Specialist and Instructor, David McKittrick. “We are delighted that this has finally come to fruition and we look forward to offering additional training opportunities Down Under in the future.”

Public Global Mapper training classes are usually organized in geographic locations where there is a discernable demand for this service. To find out more about currently available classes or to add your voice to those interested in training in your area, visit:
