Agriculture requires US$2,5 billion annually to ensure adequate support for grain, cash crops and livestock production, Finance Minister Tendai Biti has said. Presenting his 2012 National Budget Statement last week, Minister Biti said grain by itself required US$702 million. The UK government is to kick-start an innovative project to fly radar satellites around the Earth, with an initial investment of £21m. Norwegian aluminium producer Hydro and the Powerhouse alliance are planning to retrofit old offices outside Oslo, turning them into the world’s northernmost energy-positive buildings.
