Esri Incorporates Ordnance Survey Open Data into Community Topographic Base Map

Ordnance Survey’s (OS) small and mid-scale OS Open Data products are to be included in Esri’s Community Topographic Base Map (CTBM). In 2010, Esri created the CTBM for geospatial data holders, such as governments and organisations, to contribute information to.   Esri integrates this data in the CTBM and publishes it through ArcGIS Online as a map service.   Many nations have contributed authoritative data to the CTBM, making it one of the most detailed and comprehensive global topographic basemaps available today.  Any Esri user organisation and other geographic data providers interested in making their data content broadly available can participate in the Community Maps program. Ordnance Survey released a range of products for free re-use in April 2010 to help encourage innovation and economic and social value. The OS Open Data products to be included in CTBM include a high level of detail, representing roads, rivers, woodlands, administrative regions, built-up areas and buildings. They include Strategi, Meridian 2, OS VectorMap District, Boundary Line, OS Locator and OS Street View.  This added detail significantly enhances the value and utility of Great Britain geographic information, for anyone working on mapping projects with British geography.
