The team behind GEO Business are looking for speakers to join the lineup at the 2021 show, which will take place on 24-25 November at ExCeL London.
Geospatial experts are invited to apply to speak at the show, which is the UK’s largest geospatial event designed for everyone involved in the gathering, storing, processing and delivery of geospatial information. It attracts around 3,000 visitors, offering speakers the chance to get in front of an engaged, ready-made audience.
Event director Ollie Hughes says: “Whether you’re a seasoned speaker or brand new to the stage, there could be a place for you in the limelight at GEO Business 2021. If you have insights to share with other members of the geospatial profession, then we want to hear from you.”
Theme: the future of the geospatial profession
The two-day education programme, which features 150+ free-to-attend seminars, will focus on the theme ‘The future of the geospatial profession’ for 2021.
Ollie Hughes continues: “This year at GEO Business we’re looking ahead. The landscape of geospatial is rapidly evolving in response to changes happening in the world right now – from digital transformation to climate change. The vital role geospatial innovation has played in tackling the pandemic has highlighted its potential to transform industry and society.
“The aim of our agenda at GEO Business this year is to support the geospatial profession to reach its full potential. As well as opportunities relating to technology and innovation, we’ll be thinking about what this means for the people in the profession and the new challenges they have to tackle.”
Submissions relating to the following four focus areas are of particular interest:
Technology & Innovation
The team are looking for seminars that demonstrate how emerging technologies – think 3D, 5G, AI, cloud computing, real-time data, VR/AR, UAVs – are integrating with geospatial innovation to revolutionise the way we live.
Data & Ethics
The data revolution is opening up new challenges for the geospatial profession. The team welcome presentations that explore issues of access, management, security and ethical use of geospatial data.
Sustainability & Net Zero
Geo-location technology has a huge role to play in tackling climate change – the defining challenge of our age. Submissions that demonstrate how geospatial innovation can help us achieve net zero and adapt to the consequences of global warming are invited.
People & Skills
To unlock the value of geospatial technology, the profession needs the right people with the right skills and tools. The team want to receive seminars that address diversity within the geospatial workforce and how to enhance geospatial capabilities.
Ollie Hughes concludes: “If you have an idea for a seminar that relates to any of the above, we encourage you to apply to speak at the show.”
