During the 2020 GEOINTegration Summit the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) recognized five GEOINT professionals who exemplify leadership and commitment to the geospatial tradecraft, education, professional development, scholarly pursuits, and mentorship.
The winners were nominated by their peers and selected by the GEOINTegration Summit Organizing Committee.
Professional & Service Award Winners
Distinguished Academic Service Award – Dr. Steven Fleming, professor of the practice, USC Spatial Sciences Institute, was recognized for his outstanding contribution to the GEOINT tradecraft and education.
Distinguished Years of Service to GEOINT Education Award – Susan Kalweit, director of analysis, NGA, was recognized for her pioneering contribution and sustained commitment to GEOINT education.
Professional Development & Tradecraft Service Award – Michael Hauck, former T&PDC chair, was recognized for his long-standing contribution to GEOINT tradecraft & professional development.
Student Mentorship Service Award – Dr. Marco Painho, GEOINT program director, NOVA IMS Portugal, was recognized for his demonstrated commitment to GEOINT student mentorship and for promoting a positive and inclusive scholarly environment.
Years of Service Award – Mrs. Cathy Alt-Shoemaker, chair, USGIF Scholarship Committee, was recognized for her eight years of dedication in supporting the USGIF Scholarship Program and advancing the GEOINT tradecraft.
