DAYTON, Ohio — Woolpert has launched the SmartView Connect (SVC) Version 5, a streamlined quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) tracking application to review preliminary imagery, elevation and remote sensing data sets. SVC is an open geospatial consortium (OGC), compliant raster and vector service that allows internet and web map service (WMS) viewing access to project deliverables while a project is underway.
“Over the last seven years, we have published more than 500 data sets spanning hundreds of projects at Woolpert,” Application Developer Chris Morabito said in his announcement of the upgrade Saturday. “The technology behind SVC empowers us to publish data in new ways and at unprecedented speeds, and it fuels our ability to create unique deliverables for our clients.”
SVC has a flexible, role-based workflow engine that allows Woolpert to tailor the QA/QC process specific to the needs of each client, project and data type. By leveraging the firm’s in-house software, coupled with proprietary and open-source server technologies, data sets can be previewed on the web via the SVC website and brought into desktop software through OGC-compliant WMS.
Morabito said the biggest difference clients will see with SVC Version 5 is performance.
“Load times and render speeds are improved across the board, but especially for large vector data sets,” he said. “I’ve got some big ideas for what we can now build to integrate SVC with other R&D initiatives at Woolpert.”
