SimActive Inc., a world-leading developer of photogrammetry software, is pleased to announce the completion of a study for the Centre for Topographic Information of Natural Resources Canada on digital surface model (DSM) generation from RADARSAT-2 imagery using Correlator3D™. The purpose of the project was to determine the maximum achievable accuracy over mixed terrain such as small vegetation, rocks, snow and ice.
The project involved processing an area of more than 5,500 km2 of RADARSAT-2 imagery at 1.6m ground sampling distance and generating a DSM with a 15m grid post spacing. The elevation data were compared against more than 6,000 ground control points from IceSAT and the RMS error was found to be less than 2.5m.
“We were impressed by the high quality results generated from this satellite”, said Louis Simard, Chief Technology Officer of SimActive. “Despite the unique geometric and imaging properties of the RADARSAT-2 sensor, Correlator3D™ allowed for excellent autocorrelation”.
For a live demonstration of Correlator3D™ at ISPRS 2012 (August 27-31, Melbourne, Australia) please send an email to [email protected] or visit booth 80.
