Cambridge, UK, 29th February 2016 — 1Spatial, the Cambridge-based spatial data firm, is one of only 40 companies to make it three years in a row on the LSEG list of 1000 Most Inspiring Companies. 75% of these companies are based outside of London.
The aim of the list is to “shine a light on what we know to be true: that these companies are the engine of the UK economy”, says Xavier Rolet, the CEO of the London Stock Exchange Group.
The landmark report identifies the UK’s most exciting and dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises. It explains that companies appearing every year since its inauguration have “exhibited impressive growth in a still recovering economy”. The 40 stalwarts have, it says, “displayed exceptional growth for a number of years and have consistently outperformed their sector peers”. Only four of these are from the east of England.
Marcus Hanke, Chief Executive Officer of 1Spatial said, “It is a real accolade for 1Spatial to be recognised in this report for the third year running. It’s a testament to the hard work and achievements of the global 1Spatial team and all our supportive customers and partners. We congratulation all the other companies in the 1000 Most Inspiring list and are proud to be part of the thriving technology economy”.
The LSEG report also takes a look Britain’s technology sector, which continues to outstrip GDP. It reveals that the UK tech sector has been growing faster than any other part of the economy for several years. 1.46m people are employed in UK digital industries and 12.4% of the UK economy is accounted for by technology and digital business, more than any other G20 country.
