SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov 24, 2015 —Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that its mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) construction layout software, Trimble® Field Link, can now be used with the Trimble R8s GNSS receiver. This addition extends Trimble’s portfolio of positioning and scanning solutions for MEP contractors. The solution enables MEP contractors to take advantage of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology when performing outdoor construction layout tasks including utility, open deck, or long distance field layout, while using software designed for the MEP construction layout process.
The Trimble Field Link software offers an easy-to-use interface for MEP contractors to view and locate their layout points with a robotic total station, a GNSS receiver or both. The R8s GNSS receiver takes advantage of Global Positioning System (GPS) and other satellite-based positioning systems to provide MEP contractors with a flexible and integrated approach for their field layout tasks, whether they are performing site utility or top of deck layout with a view of the sky. Using the R8s receiver with Trimble Field Link provides a choice of positioning technology that seamlessly integrates with the software’s streamlined workflow for MEP contractors. The Trimble R8s delivers centimeter positioning to provide point layout accuracy without the need for line of sight from a robotic total station.
“MEP contractors who are performing long distance or utility layout are still asked to provide final as-built information to a general contractor or owner,” said Pat Bohle, general manager, Trimble MEP Division. “The combination of Trimble Field Link and the Trimble R8s receiver enables contractors to take advantage of GNSS accuracy with their 3D models in the field to provide a complete office-to-field roundtrip workflow. Now, contractors can use the most suitable positioning technology for their layout tasks—whether it’s a robotic total station, GNSS or both.”
Availability
The Trimble R8s GNSS receiver and Trimble Field Link software are available through Trimble’s MEP sales organization and MEP authorized dealers.
