New ASPRS Executive Director Michael Hauck, PhD. to Share His Vision at International LiDAR Mapping Forum 2014

  • Rating12345

Organizers of the International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF), taking place February 17-19, 2014 in Denver, are delighted to announce that Dr. Michael Hauck, the new Executive Director of ASPRS, will be speaking at ILMF 2014.  “We’re thrilled to have Dr. Hauck address the ILMF audience at the 11th annual ILMF,” said Lisa Murray, Director of International LiDAR Mapping Forum. “ASPRS plays a vital role in the LiDAR industry as it is the key organization that sets data format and accuracy standards for kinematic laser scanning and we are grateful for its support of ILMF.”

In his address, “From Galileo to Radiohead and Beyond,” Dr. Hauck will discuss the future of imaging and geospatial information, giving a nod to Galileo’s telescope and the British rock group Radiohead’s use of LiDAR technology to produce its Grammy-nominated “House of Cards.”  “I’ll make some predictions which, in 5-10 years, attendees may be able to look back upon and say with pride that they were part of the team that made them happen, and that they got the idea at ILMF,” said Dr. Hauck.

A full morning is dedicated to ASPRS on Monday, February 17.  Admission to the ‘Hot Topics’ sessions is included with International LiDAR Mapping Forum conference registration.

About International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF)

International LiDAR Mapping Forum is the premier event for the LiDAR market, attracting professionals from all over the world. A major focus of this event is the three day world class Technical Conference, where speakers from the international LiDAR community will report on latest technology advances and recent projects, highlighting actual experiences and lessons learned in aerial, terrestrial and bathymetric LiDAR with a focus on mobile mapping. Another key component of the ILMF event is the international exhibition held alongside where dozens of leading companies in this rapidly growing global market will be showcasing new LiDAR products and a wide range of new technologies and services. Technical workshops are hosted by exhibiting companies and are aimed at providing operators, managers and potential purchasers of equipment with an understanding of the basic principles and fundamental benefits and technology associated with LiDAR while providing the more seasoned experts with up-to-date information on current developments.
