CryoSat Rolls in Orbit for Calibration

  • Rating12345

On 10-12 September, CryoSat will be rolling left and right in orbit again to help continue its precise measurements of the vast ice sheets that blanket Greenland and Antarctica. This special operation follows the ones conducted at this same time last year.

The roll operation will be carried out as the satellite flies over flat sea areas of the Pacific and Indian Ocean and under different sunlight conditions. It will be the fourth operation of this kind since the satellite was launched in 2010.

Users are informed that SIRAL instrument routine planning will be suspended during the two manoeuvres and data gaps are anticipated.
