ScanEx RDC specialists took part in the 14th All-Russian Scientific Conference “Geoinformatics in Oil and Gas Industry” (February 19-21). The report “Express.Kosmosnimki: access to satellite imagery data at unprecedented price” was delivered at its plenary session on February 20.
Leading specialist of the special projects group of ScanEx Ilshat Kasimov told the professional community about principal functions of Express.Kosmosnimki service (express.kosmosnimki.ru) and possibilities of integration of spatial data access services into professional systems.
Express.Kosmosnimki offers authorized remote access to ready products based on Earth observation data with an option to load them into the environment of the end-user, which can be a website, geoportal or certain desktop applications (ArcGIS, Credo-Dialogue, Autodesk, etc.).
Currently this service customers use access to highly-detailed satellite images to conduct geo-marketing studies, verification of car tracks, maps and various geoinformation layers updating. A multi-functional system of the company may resolve such miscellaneous tasks, whereas detailed spatial data background is required for all these tasks.
The offer of ScanEx Company—Express.Kosmosnimki service — is unique for the Russian market in value, capacity and set of satellite data and their integration options.
ScanEx company tries to build relations with its partners and software solutions suppliers so that the user could have the most friendly service, meeting all his demands. At the same time the users of GIS products, based on OGC standards support (such as WMS, WFS), can get access to Express.Kosmosnimki service without using any additional special plug-ins. Access to service is activated via the link, containing an individual authorization key, which each service user gets. Access to free basic coverage of Kosmosnimki.ru is granted by default, as well as to user-defined data set inside this service.
In other words, technically satellite data are stored on the ScanEx’s servers, but the user may work with them in remote access mode via Internet. The goal of the Express.Kosmosnimki service is to streamline and expedite access to data, even if the user needs end products or just “raw” satellite images to create own derived products.

Annual access to very high resolution satellite images is given just for 10% of commercial price (90% discount!). Currently, mosaics of SPOT 5 (resolution 2.5 m), IKONOS (resolution 0.8 m) and GeoEye images (0.5 m) are available at the Express.Kosmosnimki service. All data are ortho-rectified based on SRTM terrain model.
