Leica GeoMoS 5.3 – Monitoring Process is Now Integrated as a Secure Windows Service

  • Rating12345

Leica GeoMoS, the market-leading software for monitoring applications, has been updated to version 5.3. In order to enable a permanent monitoring process, the latest version provides the best possible integration into a modern and high secure IT infrastructure as a Windows Service. For large monitoring installations using GNSS sensors and multiple total stations with hundreds of prisms, new functionalities have been introduced that make the configuration easier and the monitoring process faster.

Since its introduction in 2001, Leica GeoMoS is known for being a highly flexible automatic deformation monitoring system. The software is able to combine geodetic, geotechnical and meteorological sensors to fulfill the requirements of any monitoring project, whether it is large or small, temporary or permanent.

Leica GeoMoS Monitor Measurement Cycle as a Windows Service
Leica GeoMoS Monitor is responsible for the sensor control, data acquisition and storage, and is now sub-divided into a graphical user interface and a Windows service allowing a permanent monitoring process. Running the GeoMoS Monitor measurement cycle as a Windows service has several advantages. This service is faster and GUI independent from the monitoring process. Leica GeoMoS Monitor also restarts automatically whenever the computer system boots or in case of a Windows breakdown, and it runs independent from the user logged into the system.

Extended Limit Checks for Displacement Trends
The new Leica GeoMoS 5.3 comes with an extension for limit check messaging on displacement trends. The interval for “long time limit checks” is increased from 100 to 2500 hours (3 months) to enable limit checks on long term trends.

For several monitoring installations the limit check over longer time periods offers many advantages. For slow object movement values, which are very close to the measurement noise of a sensor, the newly implemented extended limit check prevents the system from sending messages by mistake.

Automatic Sorting of Points in Point Groups by Horizontal Angles
In order to increase the measurement cycle efficiency points within point groups are ideally measured in an optimum order based on the Hz angle.
The Point Group Editor dialog has now been extended allowing an automatic sorting by the Hz angle. This new functionality was especially developed for slope monitoring in mines when additional prisms have been installed within a point group. The automatic sorting and the subsequent measuring in one flow increase the speed and allow shorter measurement cycles.

Availability
Leica GeoMoS 5.3 is immediately available and can be obtained from the myWorld @ Leica Geosystems website, local Leica Geosystems sales representatives or dealers. The software is free of charge for all customers with a valid Leica GeoMoS customer care package.
