Council of Governments Looks for Database Partners

With the state grant rapidly running out on its Geographic Information System program, the Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments is looking to a possible interstate cooperative to keep it going for a low cost.The program, known as GIS, has been funded by an $860,000 state grant the council received in 2008. The program has created a “seamless, highly accurate database” of maps and parcels in all of the council’s 12 member towns, executive director John Filchak said.Filchak said about $80,000 of the grant remains.
