MCNC Signs Contract with 3-GIS for Deployment of Express Solution

  • Rating12345

3-GIS, an Alabama based GIS software development company, has announced that MCNC has signed a contract with 3-GIS to deploy Express Solution, the web-based GIS management solution.

3-GIS’ Express Solution leverages Esri’s ArcGIS Server to seamlessly flow network data between an office administrator utilizing Network Express and field technicians with the mobile Field Express.  3-GIS was chosen by BTOP grant recipient MCNC from among 13 participants in a competitive RFP process.  These highly efficient tools will enable MCNC to address their existing cable network while adding thousands of miles of cable to the database.  Express Solution will provide a full view of the MCNC network, with a potential of more than 1,500 community anchor institutions, 180,000 businesses, and more than 300,000 underserved families. The administrators using Network Express will have the capability to edit, query, report, trace and plot data from the geodatabase.  The efficiency of this web-based application allows the administrator to communicate data updates and work orders with field technicians using the mobile application Field Express.   The technician will have the ability to capture, edit and send data back to the office in real time.

“Over the next three years MCNC is planning the addition of 1,700 miles of fiber-optic cable to their existing 3000 miles of cable,” said Dustin Sutton, Executive Solutions Consultant for 3-GIS.  “They needed a system that could be easily be integrated with their existing database and could quickly streamline inspection management between network and field technicians during the build.”
