GeoEye and TerraGo Technologies Form Innovation Partnership

  • Rating12345

TerraGo Technologies, an innovative provider of widely adopted geospatial collaboration software, and GeoEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY), a leading source of geospatial information and insight, have formed a partnership to increase the access and application of digital imagery. This innovative partnership enables GeoEye to offer TerraGo’s GeoPDF® production capabilities in the next version of its EyeQ® online access platform. Demonstrations of this capability will be exhibited at the GEOINT Symposium, held Oct. 17-19 in San Antonio, in GeoEye booth 413 and TerraGo booth 567.

The EyeQ platform is the first of its kind to feature on-the-fly GeoPDF production. EyeQ users will be able to produce and share interactive georeferenced imagery products that are compact, portable and secure. GeoPDF images and maps can be easily updated and shared by mobile users like first responders who may lack consistent access to robust communications services or disconnected mobile users in the field.

“The goals of GeoEye and TerraGo are the same – to make it easier to access, use and share valuable geospatial information across organizations and industries,” said Tony Frazier, GeoEye senior vice president of Marketing. “This important partnership with TerraGo will bring our customers exciting new solutions, allowing an even greater return on their investments in high resolution imagery and other advanced geospatial products from GeoEye.”

“GeoEye is a market leader and an important customer of TerraGo,” said Richard Cobb, president and CEO for TerraGo. “We are excited to bring GeoPDF technology and its benefits to GeoEye customers through the EyeQ platform. This new capability and other forthcoming, innovative solutions will further expand the utilization of enterprise geospatial intelligence.”

According to Frost & Sullivan analyst Daniel Longfield, “The explosion in the collection of advanced imagery and other spatial data and its consumption by non-GIS experts necessitates solutions to make data-rich intelligence more conveniently available and actionable by the broader enterprise and in the field.”

TerraGo GeoPDF maps and imagery are widely used by commercial, state and local, and federal government agencies, including the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the Army Geospatial Center and the U.S. Geological Survey, which saw downloads of its quadrangle maps increase from an average of 4,000 per month to nearly 150,000 per month following the introduction of TerraGo’s GeoPDF technology and software solutions.
