Timmons Group Selected by the United States Forest Service

  • Rating12345

Timmons Group, a leader in geospatial consulting and application development, was recently selected by the United States Forest Service to develop the nation-wide Geospatial Activity and Accomplishment Tools (GAAT) enterprise solution for management planning and reporting.

Approximately forty-five percent of all forestland in the United States, or 354 million acres, is under nonindustrial private ownership.  These lands contribute significantly to America’s clean water and air, wildlife habitat, recreational resources and timber supplies.  Authorized by the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978, the Forest Stewardship Program (FSP) provides technical assistance, through State forestry agency partners, to Nonindustrial Private Forest (NIPF) owners to encourage and enable active long-term forest management.

A primary focus of the Program is the development of comprehensive, multi-resource management plans that provide landowners with the information they need to manage their forests for a variety of products and services.  The U.S. Forest Service State (USFS) and Private Forestry (S&PF) organization selected Timmons Group, through a competitive review process, for the development of the next release of the Forest Stewardship Plan, a writing and reporting tool.  These tools are fundamental to a “Redesigned” S&PF that is able to relate on-the-ground accomplishments to priorities identified in the State assessments and strategies and consistently report on the core set of S&PF performance measures.
